Caudwell’s legal mysteries were the subject of a laudatory
talk by Andrew Taylor at last years St Hildas so I thought
I would give the first (there are four) a go. It was certainly
enjoyable and entertaining but not perhaps quite as good as
I was expecting – that is partly the problem with a big build-up
I suppose. The humour is ok but not for me hilarious.
In this particular book there is a very good plot however.
I can see that Caudwell might well appeal strongly and it
was clear at St Hildas that she had quite a few devotees so
I guess it is worth everyone’s while trying her out.
